Lilith, for those who don't know, was mentioned in the book of Genesis before Eve was created. She was the first woman, but not having been born of Adam's rib, was relegated to secondary status and mostly ignored. She reappears as a witch and a threat to small children later in the Bible once or twice, but she lived on in unwritten legends.
